From Drywall to Done

When we came in, the drywall was hung but unfinished — raw seams, visible screws, and open fixture boxes. We applied three coats of joint compound with sanding between each pass to achieve a Level 4 finish. No visible joints, no shadowing under raking light.

Master Suite Completion

Beyond the drywall, we finished the master suite with LVP flooring, knotty pine baseboard and door casing, and a two-tone paint scheme featuring a dark mocha accent wall. Every piece of trim was hand-fitted, mitered, and caulked.

The Finishing Process

• First coat (taping): Paper tape embedded in joint compound over every seam and screw
• Second coat (blocking): Wider pass of compound to feather the edges and build up flat joints
• Third coat (skim): Final thin coat sanded smooth, extending 12–16″ on either side of each joint
• Sanding: 150-grit between coats, 220-grit final sand with inspection under raking light
• Priming: PVA primer to seal compound and provide uniform porosity
• Paint: Two coats of finish paint, cut in by hand at all edges

• Joint compound: Lightweight all-purpose for bedding, topping compound for finish coats
• Trim: Knotty pine baseboard, door casing, and window trim — clear-coated to preserve natural grain
• Paint: Two-tone scheme with light walls and dark mocha accent wall

• Hardware: Black ceiling fan, matching outlet and switch plates
